Jefferson County commissioners received an earful from the community over what company they should choose for its recycling operations.
The county is considering whether to continue contracting Skookum, which employees developmentally disabled people, or DM Disposal Inc.
More than 150 people — most donning Skookum Recycling buttons — turned out Monday night at a public hearing in the Superior Court courtroom.
Commissioners Dan Titterness, R-Port Townsend, Glen Huntingford, R-Chimacum, and Wendi Wrinkle, D-Shine, quietly listened to each speaker.
They are expected to make a decision on the contact at their meeting next Monday at 8 a.m. in the County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
