Things are looking up for Jefferson Mental Health Services.
The dispute between the county’s mental health services provider and the regional organization that contracts out its services could be on its way to resolution after mediation talks this week.
“We think we made major advances toward a new long-term contract,” said Chuck Henry, a member of the board for Jefferson Mental Health Services who was at the meeting Tuesday.
Henry said he hoped Jefferson Mental Health and Peninsula Regional Support Network, the regional organization, can put together a long-term contract even before a second mediation session July 6.
The lack of a contract, which stemmed from a disagreement over the extent of services Jefferson Mental Health said it could provide given the funding it receives, threatened to leave Jefferson County without a mental health services provider.
