PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson Transit officials will start planning for a new administration building, thanks to $1 million in federal funding.
Transit General Manager Dave Turissini announced Thursday that Jefferson Transit will receive Federal Transit Administration funds by early summer.
He credited U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Bremerton, and his staff for helping Jefferson Transit get the grant.
“Right now, our facility lacks the necessary maintenance and office space to meet our current needs,” Turissini said.
“And as our services continue to grow, it will be impossible to properly maintain our fleet without additional workspace.
“We don’t even have a decent conference room to hold public meetings in. Everyone here is very crunched.”
