JOYCE — Crescent School Board members will meet Thursday to consider asking voters for the fourth time to support a maintenance and operations levy.
Final results were certified Friday from March 8’s $1.31 million all-mail levy election, the third try in more than a year.
The levy failed 58 percent to 42 percent, with 506 people voting yes and 365 no.
State law requires 60 percent voter approval for a school levy to pass.
If passed, the levy would have generated $320,907 in 2005 and 2006 and $333,859 in 2007 and 2008.
Maintenance and operations levies pay for school operations not covered by the state. This includes everything from sports activities to bus transportation to art, foreign language and music classes.
Saying the district is now facing severe budget cuts, Superintendent Rich Wilson said board members may consider holding a new election May 18.
