JOYCE — Crescent Water Association members should continue boiling their drinking water until further notice after follow-up tests confirmed contamination, a state specialist said Wednesday.
The positive test was for coliform bacteria and not E. coli as originally feared, said Sandra Brentlinger, water quality specialist for the Washington State Department of Health.
A positive E. coli sample was collected from the association’s water system Monday following a breakdown Sunday of the water system chlorinator. The chlorinator has since been repaired.
The Crescent system gets its water from the Lyre River.
