JOYCE — The Joyce Fire Department has been awarded first place for management excellence by the Washington Fire Commissioners Association.
This marks the third year that the all-volunteer Clallam County Fire District No. 4 has placed first or second in the state for districts of its size in in recognition of the department’s commitment to the community.
During the annual association’s conference in Yakima, fire districts were judged on innovative programs, management techniques and accomplishments over the past year.
Winners were selected for the Management Excellence Award in four divisions based on budget size.
The Joyce department was awarded first place in division “D” (operating budgets under $500,000).
Fire Commissioners Ben Pacheco and Donna Buck, both of Joyce, accepted the award on behalf of the department.
