JOYCE — A 39-year-old local man was killed Saturday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle on state Highway 112 west of Lyre River.
A witness attempted to resuscitate the motorcyclist, but Steven Jon White of Joyce died immediately of head trauma, Washington State Patrol trooper Allen Nelson said at the scene about 9 miles west of Joyce.
No other vehicles appeared to be involved in the crash, he said.
White was eastbound on state Highway 112 on a curvy, uphill stretch of road near milepost 42 when his enduro-styled Honda motorcycle flipped over and skidded into a ditch on the westbound side of the roadway, Nelson said.
“The bike started to wobble back and forth,” he said. “It just toppled over.”
