JOYCE — A fire that gutted a Shire Lane manufactured home Sunday afternoon left a family of five homeless.
The family found their home engulfed in flames upon returning home from church, family friend David Bertoliatti said.
Clallam County Fire District No. 4 (Joyce) firefighters responded to the blaze.
The home belonged to Frank and Tracey McAlpin, who have children ages 7, 9 and 14.
Dave Chastain, Clallam County Fire District 3 chief, was unavailable Sunday for comment on the fire, the cause of which was under investigation.
No one in the family was injured, but house pets were believed to have perished in the flames and smoke.
Bertoliatti said a fund for the family would be set up this week at US Bank.
He was expecting to give the family a place to stay at his home and had taken the family’s horse under his care.
