Deb Kelly held an overwhelming lead Tuesday night over incumbent Chris Shea in her bid to become the next Clallam County prosecuting attorney.
“Though I’m always an optimist, I think it would be difficult to win at this point,” Shea said.
“It’s time to reflect. I think the (last) four years have been good for the community.”
Kelly, a former deputy prosecutor for Shea, celebrated the results at the county’s Republican Party headquarters in Port Angeles.
“I think it’s wonderful,” she said. “I’ve really been blessed with some support from some really fantastic people.”
As the first round of vote counting ended, Kelly had 7,682 votes, or 56.1 percent of the mail-in ballots counted so far.
Shea trailed with 6,006 votes, or 43.9 percent.
