By earth, water and by perseverance, kinetic skulpture kontraptions of virtually all shapes and sizes meandered through the 2011 Port Townsend Kinetic SkulPTure Race on Sunday.
At least a dozen human-powered, amphibious, all-terrain works of art pedaled, floated and slipped through the course that wound through town, into and out of the bay and through an intentionally muddy fairgrounds bog.
Krazy!
It was all for the annual festival that sees racers build their machines from scratch.
The festivities began Thursday and included an “Early K-Bird” Hospitality Party, a parade and an adult-oriented Kostume Ball.
The latter was held Saturday, and its highlight was the crowning of the Rose Hips Queen, Cleare Shields of Chimacum, who will “rain” until next year’s parade.
