LA PUSH — The La Push Tribal Police Department and Quileute Fire Department are investigating a possible arson after a home caught fire Monday night.
The fire was reported at 9:25 p.m. Monday at 181 Taxi Lits Road in La Push, and minutes later, units responded for a reported arson.
The fire is believed to be human-caused, according to the La Push Police Department, and so is being investigated as possible arson.
The department said a man was arrested, then “cited and released.” It not identify the man or say what he was cited for.
There was heavy fire and smoke damage in a bathroom where the fire started, and the rest of the home sustained major smoke damage in a hallway, living room, bedrooms and kitchen area.
According to Fire Chief Chris Morganroth IV, the fire started and was contained in the bathroom. The only major damage to the residence was reported to be in the bathroom.
According to fire department personnel, the smoke alarms appeared to be working correctly because they could be heard outside the house.
