LAKE CRESCENT — Has a 73-year-old mystery involving the disappearance of a Forks-area couple finally been solved?
Divers in Lake Crescent believe they have found the 1927 Chevrolet sedan in which Russell Warren and his wife, Blanch, were riding when they disappeared on July 3, 1929.
The vehicle is laying on its side, its front facing downward on a slope 168 feet below the lake’s surface, Olympic National Park ranger Dan Messaros said Saturday.
Park officials hope to photograph and examine the car closer during another dive today.
