DISCOVERY BAY — A Lakewood woman was booked into the Clallam County jail after allegedly eluding a State Patrol trooper and striking a semi-truck in Discovery Bay.
Lacey L. Smith, 25, was arrested Thursday for investigation of speeding and eluding a State Patrol vehicle while traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 268 when she failed to make the turn near milepost 282 and struck the semi-truck driven by Jeffrey Lydon, 58, of Port Orchard, said Trooper Lyndon Schwilke in a memo.
Lydon was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 101 when Smith reportedly struck his truck near milepost 282 at about 6:45 a.m., Schwilke said.
No one was injured in the collision.
The collision blocked both lanes of the highway for about three hours. Troopers were able to set up a traffic detour, said Trooper Chelsea Hodgson, public information officer.
Smith had reportedly sped past a State Patrol trooper near milepost 268 at about 6:37 a.m. The trooper tried to initiate a traffic stop for speeding, but Smith did not pull over, which turned the chase into a pursuit, and when Smith reached the turn in Discovery Bay, she was traveling too fast to complete the turn, Hodgson said.
No drugs or alcohol were involved, Schwilke said.
