Landmark waterfront pink house coming down in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — The pink house will come down on Oct. 3. A demolition date has been confirmed for tearing down the little pink house that has become an unintentional fixture — some call it an eyesore — on the Port Angeles waterfront.

The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce announced Friday that the empty, 800-square-foot former law office on Railroad Avenue will be knocked down on Oct. 3.

Permits have been approved, inspections completed, space in the city landfill reserved and the only thing left to do is tear it down.

Jerry Nichols of Gase/Nichols Properties and co-owner of Coldwell Banker Uptown Realty, said the site would remain vacant.

The building was built more than 100 years ago and was moved to the site in the early 1920s.

“Nobody seems to know exactly when,” Nichols said.

He and Dan Gase led the project.

The effort began in January and as of Saturday the only money spent for permits was $25 for a local clean air agency, Nichols said. The rest of the fees have been waived.

Demolition and removal will be done by Vision Builders at cost.

Gase and Nichols and the chamber will pay for the removal.
