LAPUSH — The body of a 17-year-old Tacoma boy missing since Wednesday afternoon was found Thursday by tribal canoeists off LaPush.
A canoe from the Muckleshoot tribe participating in the 2002 Paddle Journey discovered the body about 8:30 a.m. Thursday a half-mile offshore, tribal members reported.
The boy, whose identity was not released, had been camping with his parents and two brothers at Olympic National Park’s Second Beach south of LaPush, park spokeswoman Barb Maynes said.
The boy was last seen by family members at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when he left for a hike along a rocky area north of Second Beach, Maynes said.
The exact cause of his death was unknown Thursday.
