LAPUSH — Quileute tribal elders will meet behind closed doors Tuesday to discuss how the discovery of human remains will impact construction of the senior center.
Human remains were unearthed Aug. 28 while workers were digging the center’s deep foundation.
Construction on the $775,000 center remains shut down until elders discuss their wishes pertaining to the project, said Audrey Grafstrom, executive director of the Quileute Housing Authority.
The remains were discovered in a sandy area believed to be an old beach.
