Law enforcement convoy escorts retiring Clallam County undersheriff home

PORT ANGELES — Don’t be alarmed if you just saw a convoy of law enforcement vehicles traveling east from Port Angeles.

It was a ceremonial escort for retiring Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Peregrin on his last day on the job.

Sheriff’s deputies, Port Angeles police and Sequim police followed Peregrin from the Clallam County Courthouse to his home in Sequim at about noon today (Friday).

Peregrin, 69, retired today after eight years with the Clallam County sheriff’s office and 48 years in public safety service.

He worked as an officer with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and served as a special agent with the U.S. Coast Guard before joining the Sheriff’s Office.

About 10 units took part in the traditional ceremony, Port Angeles Deputy Chief of Police Brian Smith said.
