FORKS — A former Forks police officer has filed a lawsuit against the city seeking an unspecified amount of overtime pay.
Jim Dixon had worked for the Forks Police Department from September 1998 through June 2007, according to the lawsuit filed in Clallam County Superior Court.
The claim sites violations of three Washington laws as well as the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
Dixon, who was the K-9 officer handler, was recently named in a recall petition filed against Mayor Nedra Reed earlier this month.
According to Fair Labor Standards Act, as the handler he was entitled to a half-hour of overtime per day, which he was never paid, the lawsuit claims.
Reed said on Monday that Dixon had never filed the proper paperwork to receive payment.
“This issue has been referred to our attorney, and we will follow up on this issue,” Reed said.
