PORT ANGELES — Librarians Danielle Gayman and Sarah Morrison at the Sequim Library will lead a two-hour workshop, “Media Literacy,” on June 21.
The workshop will be at 6 p.m. at the library at 630 N. Sequim Ave.
Librarians will tell how to examine and analyze information sources.
According to the Pew Research Center, a majority of U.S. adults and youths are getting their news in real time from their social media feeds.
“Today’s media landscape and technologies mean that misinformation or disinformation can be widely shared and disseminated, accidentally or purposefully, regardless of the facts,” librarians said in a news release.
“The number of sources and formats make it difficult to consistently choose unbiased, accurate outlets.
“A media-literate person can analyze the relationships among media, audiences, information and power to decode where truth lies within a story.”
