PORT ANGELES — A $3,500 grant from the Benjamin N. Phillips Memorial Fund will fund an enhanced North Olympic Library Foundation website and an informational brochure.
Patty Hannah and Kristin Glenn, board members of the newly formed foundation, wrote the grant application earlier this summer.
“We are thrilled to have received this funding because the library foundation is poised to take the next critical step in its development to educate members of the community about the existence of the North Olympic Library Foundation,” Glenn said.
“The Phillips grant makes this step possible.”
In its 2010 business plan, the North Olympic Library System board called for the formation of a foundation to strengthen the long-term financial health of the system that oversees public libraries in Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks and Clallam Bay.
A group of residents formed the foundation in 2012.
In addition to Hannah and Glenn, Jim Hallett, Patrick Irwin, Diane Kaufman, Yvonne Ziomkowski and Don Zanon serve on the board.
The Benjamin N. Phillips Fund was established in 2006 by the estate of Joy Phillips to honor her late husband. The fund makes grants to organizations improving the lives of Clallam County residents.
