The Clallam County Sheriff’s Department is turning on the headlights of its patrol cars for better highway safety.
Sheriff Joe Martin said he has asked all members of his department to drive with the headlights on during daylight hours.
Martin, chairman of the Driving 101 Traffic Safety Project examining low-cost ways to improve safety on U.S. Highway 101 between the Jefferson County line near Gardiner and state Highway 112 west of Port Angeles, said the use of headlights during daylight hours increases vehicle visibility.
