PORT ANGELES — Lincoln High, the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center and Stevens Middle schools went into lockdown this morning as police responded to a report of a man pointing a gun toward the high school.
When police arrived at about 10 a.m., the suspect, Nicholas Johnson, 37, did not have a gun, said Officer Clay Rife, patrol supervisor.
The schools were in lockdown for roughly 20 minutes, said Tina Smith-O’Hara, Port Angeles School District spokesperson.
Someone had reported Johnson, who is under Department of Corrections supervision, was muttering he would harm police if they arrived on scene, Rife said.
When police arrived, they detained Johnson without incident and found he had no weapons.
Rife said Johnson will not face any charges for the incident but that he was turned over to the Department of Corrections, which told police Johnson would receive a urinalysis after the incident.
