PORT ANGELES — Gov. Gary Locke visits the city today in the latest stop on his statewide “Jobs Now” tour to promote his economic recovery plan to create jobs and boost the state’s economy.
The trip was in danger of being canceled had the new legislative mini-session at the state capitol not concluded Wednesday night, said Locke spokeswoman Kirsten Kendrick.
The session was called to consider tax breaks that could reach $3.2 billion and other legislation to entice the Boeing Co. to pick the state for its 7E7 factory.
With the session ended, the governor will arrive at William R. Fairchild International Airport at about 8:30 a.m. today, where he will be escorted by county, city, tribal and business leaders to a tour of the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center at Eighth and B streets.
