Made famous by ‘Twilight,’ Forks could get reality show; casting call slated next week

FORKS — A Los Angeles production company is looking for outgoing people who can exude the essence of Forks on television.

Althoughthe “Twilight” movie, based on the book of the same name set in Forks, was not filmed on the West End, the four-novel vampire series has made Forks such a destination that Zig Gauthier, a producer from Los Angeles, wants to give the small town a close-up of another kind.

Gauthier, who founded Red Varden Studios, will conduct casting calls on Tuesday and Wednesday for a Forks-based reality television series.

The casting sessions will be from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Both will be at The Twilight Lounge, 81 N. Forks Ave.

Anyone interested in starring in a TV show is invited to just show up.

“We’d love to have some outgoing personalities who can represent the real Forks,” Gauthier said.

“If we can get this on the air, it is a whole level of exposure for Forks.”

The Twilight series of four novels by Stephenie Meyer of Arizona tells the fictional story of a Forks High School student, Bella Swan, who has vampire, Edward Cullen, and werewolf, Jacob Black, vying for her heart.

Gauthier has said that his production studio works on some 25 to 50 projects each year, and that the idea to hold a series in Forks is among his top four choices.

He said he is looking for people who are extroverts, TV-friendly and living permanently in Forks.

“We will be considering both individuals and groups of at least two to five people,” Gauthier said.

Gauthier said he would pitch the concept to television executives after he has characters lined up for the show.

Red Varden Studios is producing a show titled “The Othersiders” for The Cartoon Network, which details the lives of five teenage paranormal investigators.

Also in production is “Size Matters,” which is a reality show for the Oxygen Channel about the dating lives of women who are 6 feet and taller.

Gauthier formed Red Varden Studios after working for several Fox affiliates, the Game Show Network and the SciFi Channel.
