Man booked for assault after chase by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies in Brinnon

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office issued this press release today (Monday):

“On [Sunday September 16th, 2012], at approximately 2245 hours, Jefferson County Deputies investigated a reported assault occurring on Duckabush Road in Brinnon.

“The reporting party stated that she had been camping with her boyfriend, a 24-year-old Bremerton man, and another couple.

“The four were drinking alcohol and were highly intoxicated when an argument occurred between the reporting party and her boyfriend.

“The Bremerton man became enraged, and [allegedly] head-butted the reporting party in the nose and upper lip area, and also [allegedly] punched her in the head.

“The other couple attempted to intervene during the assault, and the Bremerton man [allegedly] assaulted both of them, then fled the scene when told police were being called.

“Deputies broadcast a description of the male and the vehicle he had fled in, and it was located a few minutes later on Center Road as it traveled northbound towards the Chimacum area.

“At that time, Jefferson County deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, but the vehicle fled, traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

“After losing sight of the vehicle as it approached Chimacum, the pursuit was discontinued, but the vehicle was located minutes later on the lawn of the Church of the Redeemer in Chimacum.

“The suspect was still inside the vehicle as deputies approached, and attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly captured.

“During the arrest, the suspect [allegedly] attempted to head-butt one of the arresting deputies, but was quickly subdued without further incident.

“Shayne M. Sullivan was arrested and booked [for investigation of] assault 2nd degree, two counts of assault 4th degree, felony elude, hit and run unattended, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and obstructing a public servant.”
