BRINNON — A Quilcene man was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after he crossed the centerline and hit an embankment, the State Patrol said in a collision memo.
Russell S. Mikeal, 58, was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 304 just after 9:30 p.m. Friday when he attempted to pass a vehicle on the left and over corrected, the State Patrol said.
Mikeal’s 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled and struck a tree, and it came to rest in the northbound ditch, the memo stated.
Mikeal, who was not wearing a seat belt, was airlifted to Harborview, the State Patrol said. He was in satisfactory condition on Sunday, Harborview spokesperson Susan Gregg said.
The State Patrol said drugs or alcohol were involved and that the cause of the collision was driving under the influence.
