SEKIU — A 41-year-old man was flown to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles after the truck he was driving struck a guardrail and blocked the eastbound lanes of state Highway 112.
Joseph A. Colfax of Port Angeles was arrested Monday night on investigation of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, the State Patrol said.
He was in the Clallam County Jail on Tuesday morning.
Colfax was traveling westbound on Highway 112 near milepost 12 in a 1994 Ford F-150 about 9:08 p.m. Monday when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the centerline and struck the eastbound guardrail, the State Patrol said.
The pickup blocked the eastbound lanes for about 2½ hours, the state Department of Transportation said.
Colfax was not wearing a seat belt, said the State Patrol, which indicated speeds were too fast for conditions.
The pickup was totally destroyed and towed from the scene, the State Patrol said.
