PORT ANGELES — A man who was shot in the leg was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, was shot through the thigh Friday at the Elwha River bridge parking area on state Highway 112, said Brian King, chief criminal deputy with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
According to King, at about 6:40 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Elwha River Road.
According to 9-1-1 dispatchers, the man was taken by private vehicle to the Lower Elwha Health Clinic. He was met there by first responders at about 6:47 p.m.
He was then transported to Olympic Medical Center and later to Harborview, King said.
There is no information about the person or persons who shot the man, King said, adding they fled the scene in an unknown vehicle prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Deputies recovered bullet casings at the scene of the shooting, King said.
“We have deputies at the scene and [are] still investigating,” he said Saturday afternoon.
