SEQUIM — A man was transported to a hospital after a single-car wreck into a tree.
Trent Wuest, 26, of Port Angeles was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 269 east of Sequim about 4:16 a.m. Friday when the 2001 Toyota Echo he was driving crossed the centerline, left the roadway to the left and struck a tree, the State Patrol said.
The vehicle came to rest on the westbound ditch, the State Patrol said.
Wuest was transported by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center, according to the State Patrol.
He was wearing a seat belt. No drugs or alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.
The agency cited the cause as speeds too fast for conditions. Wuest also was driving without a license and without proof of insurance, the State Patrol said.
The car, which was totally destroyed, was towed from the scene, the State Patrol said.
