PORT ANGELES — A 33-year-old Port Angeles man is expected to be charged today after he was booked Sunday for investigation of molesting children younger than 16.
Michael Donald Stephens was booked into jail for investigation of three counts of second-degree rape of a child, two counts of first-degree incest and one count of first-degree child molestation.
He is expected to be charged at 1 p.m. today in Clallam County Superior Court.
He remained in the Clallam County jail Tuesday on a $250,000 bond.
Police account
The Port Angeles Police Department gave this account of the events leading up to Stephens’ arrest, filed in court documents associated with the case:
Police were dispatched to a home south of Lauridsen Boulevard and west of South Laurel Street following a report of suspected child abuse.
The officer heard from the caretaker of a woman who lives in the home that five children had told her Stephens had sexually or physically abused them.
After interviewing the children, investigators arrested Stephens when he returned to the home on Lauridsen Boulevard.
