FORKS — A log truck driver was transported to Forks Community Hospital after the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and came to rest in a ditch.
Theodore W. Heidenreich, 69, of Elma was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 187 about 5:59 a.m. Tuesday when the 1997 log truck he was driving left the roadway to the right, the State Patrol said.
The truck struck the ditch, causing the load to separate and strike the cab, the State Patrol said.
The trailer had reportable damage and the cab was totally destroyed, the State Patrol said. Both were removed by private tow.
Heidenreich was wearing a seat belt. No drugs or alcohol were suspected, the State Patrol said.
The agency cited fatigued driving as the cause.
