PORT HADLOCK — Marrowstone Island property owners should receive a letter from Jefferson County Public Utility District No. 1 in the next few weeks outlining the cost of a proposed water system.
The utility district is sending the letter to residents following a petition filed last month seeking an engineering analysis.
The district decided to send a preliminary letter because of speculation about both the cost of the project and the approval process, utility Manager Jim Parker said last week.
“The total hook-up cost may be as low as $5,000,” Parker said. “That’s what we’re shooting for.”
Parker said the actual per-connection cost will depend on a water source.
