PORT ANGELES — Port of Port Angeles commissioners will hold a “meet and greet” special meeting today to discuss a permanent executive director contract with interim Executive Director Ken O’Hollaren.
It will begin at 9 a.m. in the meeting room of the port administrative building, 338 W. First St.
“It’s just a meet-and-greet,” board Vice President John Calhoun said last week. “We’ll ask Ken to make some opening remarks about why he wants to be the director.”
There also will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions along with refreshments, he said.
Today’s “meet and greet” is expected to last up to an hour.
No other business is on the agenda.
Commissioners have named O’Hollaren, the retired executive director of the Port of Longview, as their choice for the port’s top administrative position at a proposed $145,000 a year.
He would succeed Jeff Robb, now the port’s environmental affairs director.
Commissioners have said they may be prepared to approve the final contract at their next regular meeting March 11.
“I am prepared to sign the contract now,” Calhoun said. “I want to have the chance for the public to meet and ask questions, and give us any final input before we make a decision to sign it.”
