Veteran and community groups will host events and remembrance ceremonies across the North Olympic Peninsula to observe Memorial Day on Monday:
PORT ANGELES
Flags displayed
PORT ANGELES — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1024 will display U.S. flags on poles along the driveways at Ocean View Cemetery at 3127 W. 18th St. and Mount Angeles Cemetery at 45 Monroe Road, starting at 7 a.m.
Volunteers are needed to help put up the flagpoles and then take them down at 4 p.m.
Post members decorated graves of deceased veterans with small flags on Saturday.

Monday ceremony
PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Veterans Association will conduct a Memorial Day ceremony at Mount Angeles Memorial Park at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
The ceremony will be at the flagpole in the Veterans Circle at the south end of the grounds.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
SEQUIM/BLYN/GARDINER
VFW, American Legion
SEQUIM — The Sequim VFW/American Legion will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at Sequim View Cemetery, 1505 Sequim-Dungeness Way, at 11 a.m.
From there, the VFW will visit Pioneer Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m., Blyn Cemetery at noon and the Gardiner Community Center at 12:30 p.m.
The American Legion heads to ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. at Jamestown Cemetery, at noon at Dungeness Cemetery and at 12:45 p.m. at Blue Mountain Cemetery.
PORT TOWNSEND
Memorial Day services
PORT TOWNSEND — Three organizations are working to commemorate Memorial Day with wreath-laying services, music and a ceremony Monday.
Marvin G. Shields Memorial Post 26 of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 7498 and the Port Townsend Elks Lodge will conduct wreath-laying services at 10 a.m. at Fort Worden Cemetery, at 10:30 a.m. at Laurel Grove Cemetery on Old Discovery Bay Road and at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery on San Juan Avenue.
At 11:30 a.m., the Port Townsend Summer Band will present a concert at the American Legion Hall at 209 Monroe St.
There, Alfred Chiswell, director of the Coast Artillery Museum at Fort Worden, will speak at noon.
The traditional wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the City Dock, across from City Hall, at 1 p.m.
Following the ceremony, the Post 26 Auxiliary will provide a potluck luncheon for everyone attending.

CHIMACUM

CHIMACUM — VFW No. 7498 members and the post’s Ladies Auxiliary will honor veterans and lay flowers at Chimacum Cemetery on Memorial Day.
The ceremony will be at 3 p.m.
FORKS
Two ceremonies
FORKS — The Forks Elks Cub Scout Pack 4467 will lead a ceremony at the monument at City Hall, 500 E. Division St., at 11 a.m. Monday.
Following the conclusion of that ceremony, participants will then travel to the Transit Center for a short ceremony.
The public is invited to attend.
