Memorial Day ceremonies are planned across the North Olympic Peninsula.

PORT ANGELES
Memorial service
PORT ANGELES — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1024 will perform a Memorial Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at Mount Angeles Memorial Park cemetery.
The ceremony will be held at the veterans circle at the cemetery at 45 S. Monroe Road.
Volunteers are needed to place large flags at 7 a.m. today and to remove the flags at 4 p.m. at Memorial Park and Ocean View Cemetery, 3127 W. 18th St.

SEQUIM
Joint ceremony
SEQUIM — Memorial Day ceremonies will be held in the city beginning at Sequim View Cemetery at 11 a.m. This is a joint ceremony with the American Legion and Sequim VFW Post 4760.
The Sequim View Cemetery is at 1505 Sequim-Dungeness Way. From there, the American Legion will go to Jamestown Cemetery, 399 Cemetery Road, at 11:30 a.m., Dungeness Cemetery, 2153 Lotzgesell Road, at noon and Blue Mountain Cemetery, 1494 Blue Mountain Road, at 12:45 p.m.
All cemeteries will have flags on marked veterans’ graves from Saturday morning until this evening.
American Legion Post 62 places and retrieves the flags.

GARDINER
Memorial
GARDINER — The public is invited to attend Gardiner Community Cemetery’s Memorial Day services at 12:30 p.m.
The Carlsborg VFW will conduct the ceremony at the cemetery, 137 Gardiner Cemetery Road.
Flags will be displayed on veteran’s graves.

PORT TOWNSEND
Quilts of Valor
PORT TOWNSEND — Quilts will be presented to 21 local veterans at the Marvin G. Shields Memorial Post’s 26th annual Memorial Day observance at three cemeteries starting at 10 a.m.
The post’s honor guard will be at Fort Worden Cemetery at 10 a.m., Laurel Grove Cemetery on Cemetery Street at 10:30 a.m. and St. Mary Cemetery on San Juan Avenue at 11 a.m.
The Port Townsend Summer Band will present a half-hour concert at 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion, on the corner of Monroe and Water streets, preceding the noon ceremonies.
A potluck buffet provided by the legion will follow the services.
The public is invited to attend.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a national group whose mission is to provide a quilt for each veteran who has been affected by war.

FORKS
Forks Cemetery
FORKS — The city of Forks will host a Memorial Day program at the Forks Cemetery on Calawah Way at 11 a.m.
The Fletcher-Wittenborn VFW, city of Forks officials, Boy Scouts and American Legion will participate.
The Scouts also will lower the flag at City Hall and the Forks Transit Center.
The public is welcome to attend.
