WHILE “DOONESBURY” IS on hiatus for the summer so its creator, Garry Trudeau, can develop a TV show, we’re continuing to audition temporary replacement comic strips for readers of the print-edition Peninsula Daily News instead of re-running old “Doonesbury” strips.
(Trudeau stopped doing new strips in early June. His syndicate has been sending us only old “rerun” strips that we originally published months ago. For now we’ve had to use some of these on Sundays. We’ve been told “Doonesbury” won’t be back — with new daily strips — until after Labor Day.)
Beginning today (Monday, July 15), “Mike Du Jour” steps up to the plate, replacing “Candorville,” the previous temporary tryout, in our Monday through Friday comics lineup.
Creator Mike Lester calls the main character, Mike Du Jour, a generic office worker for a company called Big Bottom Line Inc., “a combination of Walter Mitty, Buster Keaton and moi.”
Readers are invited to give us your feedback on Mike Du Jour by emailing pdncomics@gmail.com.
Many thanks!
