PORT ANGELES — “Re-employment orientation sessions” are scheduled Wednesday for the 59 K Ply workers whose layoff last week now has been classified as “indefinite.”
“It’s an orientation to tell them about services available as unemployed workers from a mass layoff situation,” said Lori Province, Workforce Investment Act labor liaison for the Washington State Labor Council.
The one-hour presentations sponsored by Clallam WorkSource and Peninsula College will be at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Moose Lodge, 809 S. Pine St.
Information will be presented regarding additional resources and services available for re-employment.
Employers with job openings also will be on-site to accept applications.
K Ply halted production at its plywood mill for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 3 and also laid off 59 employees, about one-third of its work force, eliminating the graveyard shift.
