PORT ANGELES — Improved Superior Court security received approval from Clallam County’s three commissioners at their weekly work session Monday.
The court is seeking $6,184 from the state Gender and Justice Commission for hardware and training, including:
* Magnetometer walk-through metal detector for the proposed third Superior Court, $5,400.
* Hand wand metal detector, $230.
* Reflective window film for judges’ chambers and Courtroom 3, $1,601.
* Continued court security officer training, $2,000.
If the state approves the grant, the county will provide $3,047 in matching funds.
In other action Monday, commissioners gave informal approval to a $30,452 contract with Olympic Electric Co. of Port Angeles to upgrade lighting at the Clallam County Courthouse.
They will approve the contract formally and sign it today.
