PORT TOWNSEND – Jefferson County ballots continued a fast rate of return Friday, totaling 7,421 mailed in, said Betty Johnson, county Auditor’s Office elections specialist.
That brings ballot returns for the Nov. 4 general election to 33.6 percent of the 22,087 ballots sent out since Oct. 15.
That compares to 6,426, or 29 percent, returned by Thursday and 5,375, or 24.3 percent, on Wednesday, Johnson said.
In Clallam County, 11,759 or 25.74 percent of the 45,666 ballots mailed, had been returned by Friday.
In Jefferson County, undeliverable ballots now total 87, Johnson reported.
Ballot musts be postmarked by Nov. 4 or hand-delivered by 8 p.m. that day to the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Jefferson County Auditor Donna Eldridge said she expects a high turnout for the Nov. 4 general election, at least 92 percent.
