BRINNON — A Gig Harbor man was airlifted to a Seattle hospital after he crashed his motorcycle into the back of a car at U.S. Highway 101 and Duckabush Road, the State Patrol said.
Donald R. Nearhoff, 62, was in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center on Thursday afternoon, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.
Nearhoff was following a vehicle on a 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle and struck a 2009 Honda Odyssey driven by Cesar B. Barragan Flores, 40, of Vancouver, Wash., who was traveling northbound at about 1 p.m. Thursday.
Flores slowed to turn left onto Duckabush Road when Nearhoff collided with the back of the Odyssey, the State Patrol said.
Nearhoff, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted to Harborview with unspecified injuries, the State Patrol said. Flores was wearing a seat belt and not injured, the State Patrol added.
Both vehicles sustained reportable damage.
The cause was listed as speed too fast for conditions, the State Patrol said.
