FORKS — A motorcycle rider was airlifted to a Seattle hospital after colliding with a deer on state Highway 110.
Alexander L. Trapp, 48, of Seattle was flown to Harborview Medical Center after the collision just after 8 a.m. Sunday, according to the State Patrol.
Trapp was in critical condition in the intensive care unit on Monday, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.
He was traveling eastbound on Highway 110 at milepost 3 when the deer entered the road from the eastbound shoulder, the State Patrol said.
The motorcycle struck the deer, and Trapp was ejected. Both came to rest 75 feet east of the impact point, the State Patrol said.
The motorcycle came to rest in the eastbound lane, and the highway was blocked for six hours, the State Patrol said.
Trapp was wearing a helmet. No drugs or alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.
The motorcycle, a 2014 BMW G650, had reportable damage and was recovered by Rigby’s Auto Body.
