QUILCENE — One motorcycle rider was airlifted to a Seattle hospital after she went into a ditch along northbound U.S. Highway 101.
Jaelinn C. Farmer, 24, of Bellingham was flown to Harborview Medical Center on Sunday afternoon.
She remained at Harborview in satisfactory condition on Wednesday, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.
Farmer was traveling northbound on Highway 101 at Fuller Road just after 2 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of the motorcycle and went into the northbound ditch, the State Patrol said.
A second motorcycle rider, Bryan L. Gilstrap, 46, of Tacoma attempted to stop to check on Farmer and also lost control of the vehicle and went into the northbound ditch, the State Patrol said.
Gilstrap was not injured, the State Patrol said.
Both riders were wearing helmets. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.
Both motorcycles were totally destroyed and were towed by a friend, the State Patrol said.
