PORT TOWNSEND – A 29-year-old Port Townsend motorcyclist hit by a car two weeks ago remained in a coma at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday.

Alex Ramon Edwards-Weimer, known to family and friends as Ramon, may never regain consciousness, said his mother, Shone “Coyote” Wigginton of Port Ludlow.

“If he does come out of it, he’ll be a totally different person,” Wigginton said.

“It’s just about the worst news that anybody can ever hear about their child.”

Her son suffered head injuries during a crash at the intersection of South Discovery Road and Jacob Miller Road in Port Townsend on Nov. 1.

He was riding a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle on a rare day off from work when he was hit by a 1996 four-door Ford Taurus driven by Nancy L. Claassen, 61, of Port Townsend.

Edwards-Weimer was airlifted to Harborview, where he remained unresponsive and in critical condition as of Wednesday.

The State Patrol cited Claassen for failure to yield right of way.

Claassen had stopped at a stop sign on Jacob Miller Road, and then moved into Edwards-Weimer’s path, said the State Patrol.

The motorcyclist was traveling behind a car that turned right from South Discovery Road on Jacob Miller Road.

The State Patrol said that Claassen didn’t see him.
