PORT ANGELES — In its 75th year of business, Murray Motors has found itself on a list of dealerships that struggling automaker Chrysler plans to close.
Mark Murray, the third-generation owner of the oldest car dealership in Clallam County and the only Chrysler dealer on the North Olympic Peninsula, confirmed today that he had been notified, but declined further comment.
Murray Motors is one of 15 Chrysler dealers in the state and 789 nationwide that will have their franchise agreements terminated on or around June 9 if a bankruptcy court judge approves the plan, Chrysler spokesman Scott Brown said.
Any inventory that the closing dealers still have after that date will be reallocated to the remaining dealers, Brown said. He said closing dealers will be compensated for the inventory.
Murray Motors, which also includes a used car dealership, got its start in Clallam Bay in 1934.
