SEQUIM — The community kicks off an outdoor series of free evening concerts tonight with a band noted for its classic rock ’n’ roll sounds.
The downbeat for Music in the Park — 6 p.m. at James Center for the Performing Arts, 563 N. Rhodefer Road — will come from the band Strait Shots, which opened Port Angeles’ 2015 Concert on the Pier series last week before an audience of about 350.
Strait Shots, which performs well-known tunes from the 1960s to the early 1990s, is composed of Stephanie Clark, lead singer; Chris Stevens, lead guitar; John Kinsella, bass and other instruments; Stef Anderson, drums; and Garland “GF” Frankfurth, keyboards.
The audience is encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy the two-hour Sequim concert at the bandshell.
Then tomorrow, Port Angeles will hold its second Concert on the Pier of the 2015 series at 6 p.m. Featured until 8 p.m. will be Lobo del Mar, a band that mixes Celtic, bluegrass, flamenco and other musical styles.
Port Townsend’s Concert on the Dock start Thursday at 5 p.m. with the band Marley’s Ghost, mixing of bluegrass, Celtic, honky-tonk and other styles. The Port Townsend concerts are at Pope Marine Park, 621 Water St. and last till 7:30 p.m.
