Mysterious car fires investigated

Police and firefighters are investigating three suspicious car fires in central Port Angeles.

Two were reported Wednesday night on either side of Jessie Webster Park within about 30 minutes of each other.

The first was reported at Second and Albert streets at about 9:30 p.m., and the second fire was reported near Third and Eunice streets about 10:05 p.m.

Firefighters responded to another vehicle fire in the same area within the past month, Port Angeles Fire Chief Dan McKeen said.

The location of the fires, all near each other, makes them seem suspicious, McKeen said. Reports have been forwarded to Fire Marshal Ken Dubuc to review for possible arson.
