PORT HADLOCK — Naval Security Forces will conduct a training exercise from noon to 1 p.m. today on Naval Magazine Indian Island.
The exercise is a harbor drill run on the water in the vicinity of the base security barrier and ammo pier, and will include two security boats on the water, according to a press release.
Local residents and base personnel working on Naval Magazine Indian Island should expect to hear loud, wailing sirens and horns, the release said.
Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions within local communities and normal base operations.
Advanced coordination has taken place with local law enforcement and first responders.
The Navy routinely conducts this type of security and other emergency response exercises to ensure readiness and improve coordination, communication and collaboration with other agencies during emergency situations, the press release said.
