INDIAN ISLAND – A naval exercise planned off Indian Island in Port Townsend Bay has been canceled.
Naval Coastal Warfare Squadron 33, based in Everett and comprised of Navy and Coast Guard personnel, had planned to conduct the training exercise for 200 participants Thursday through Saturday.
“It was canceled because we had personnel called away on real missions,” Jim Andrews, Naval Coastal Warfare Squadron 33 spokesman, said Tuesday.
He declined to say where the missions were.
Andrews said the exercise – in which blanks were to be shot for four 34-foot boats and from Indian Island, where the Naval Magazine is based – will be rescheduled, but not for six month to eight months.
