PORT HADLOCK — Naval Magazine Indian Island has security training exercises scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
Training activities Wednesday will include the use of blank ammunition, loud sirens and bright blue flashing lights near the installation’s main gate.
The main gate will be temporarily closed for a short period of time during this exercise. But, the Navy said in a press release, that should have a minimal impact to traffic in the area.
The exercise Thursday will involve security boats on the water near the pier’s port security barrier and the use of blank ammunition, loud sirens and bright blue flashing lights.
During both exercise scenarios, announcements will be broadcast from the base’s loudspeaker notification system, the Navy said.
Residents living in the communities surrounding Indian Island and installation personnel could notice increased noise levels and activities associated with the training exercises those days, the Navy said in a press release.
The Navy conducts these types of security exercises at installations across the world to ensure readiness and verify response procedures, the Navy said.
