NEAH BAY — Personnel from Coast Guard Station Neah Bay transferred an injured crew member from the Navy research-vessel Atlantis off the coast of the North Olympic Peninsula on Monday morning.
The 13th Coast Guard District communications center in Seattle received a call from the 274-foot research vessel at about 2 p.m. Sunday, requesting help transferring an unidentified 29-year-old woman who fell, suffering lacerations and a possible broken nose, to a medical clinic.
At the time of the injury, Atlantis was about 150 miles west of Cape Flattery conducting research operations.
A 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Neah Bay met the Atlantis approximately two miles west of Cape Flattery at 10 a.m. Monday and transferred the woman to the medical clinic in Neah Bay.
Her name, position on the ship and condition were not available Monday.
